It appears even more “Gossip” could be headed to the Upper East Side.
The producers of the popular CW series “Gossip Girl” are planning a spin-off series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The potential new show would reportedly be set at an all-girls boarding school and could possibly star Taylor Momsen, who currently plays Jenny Humphrey in “Gossip Girl.”
It’s also possible a new character could be introduced in the fall, who becomes the focus of the spin-off. But whichever character is spun off, the story would likely follow Jenny’s plotline from the “Gossip Girl” book series.
In the books, Jenny is the focus of a spin-off novel series called “The It Girl.”
When contacted by Access Hollywood, a rep for The CW had no comment on the report.
However, “Gossip Girl” executive producer Josh Schwartz told E! Online there was no truth to the reports.
“Not sure how this got out there — but no plans for spin off at this moment,” Schwartz said, dispelling the story in The Hollywood Reporter. “The books do have a spin off, but we have nothing in the works right now other than making sure Season 2 gets off to a great start.”
