A day after her sister Jamie Lynn gave birth to a baby girl, a serious-looking Britney Spears returned to Los Angeles on Friday to a crush of rowdy paparazzi at the airport.

After the group – consisting of Spears, assistant Brett, father Jamie and bodyguards – made their way down a terminal escalator, Jamie Spears pushed photographers out of the way. Britney, wearing sunglasses, was bumped several times.

Hours earlier, the pop singer gave a tearful goodbye to family at the New Orleans airport after being on hand for the birth of her niece Maddie Briann. On the plane, Spears kept to herself in first class on the Delta flight, which also included celebrity passenger Amanda Bynes.

“Britney didn’t seem happy and was mostly resting,” says a Meredth Wood, a fellow passenger. “She kept her sunglasses on for most of the flight.”

Kevin Federline celebrated turning 30 by getting smeared with cake at his birthday party.

He turned up for his big bash in a dapper suit but looked distinctly unstylish when friends plastered his face with the birthday surprise.

However, K-Fed – who is going through a bitter custody battle for the children he had with Britney Spears – didn’t seem too bothered after the incident at Pure nightclub in Las Vegas.

He laughed and joked with guests, and posed for the cameras despite having creamy gunge on his face.

Even another ex, actress Shar Jackson, was invited to the party.

Maddie Briann was born Thursday weighing 7 lbs., 11 ounces. She is the first child for Jamie Lynn, 17, and fiance Casey Aldridge.

“I’m sure the baby’s beautiful, and I’m so glad everybody’s healthy and doing well,” cousin Alli Sims told Us an after-party for Wanted in Los Angeles on Thursday.

“I just wish them all the happiness in the world,” she said. “I know they’re going to have so much fun.”

Britney Spears is currently at work on an upcoming album, her vocal producer and co-writer Jim Beanz confirms exclusively to Usmagazine.

“Britney is amazing,” Beanz tells Us.

The singer, 26, has had her share of drama, but “we never see anything but positives out of her.

“Everyone has personal stuff, but a true professional doesn’t bring it into the studio,” he adds.

In April, her former manager Larry Rudolph told Us that Spears — who is currently in Kentwood, celebrating sister Jamie Lynn’s new baby girl Maddie — had gone into the studio “just for fun.”

Added Rudolph, “she is on the right path.”

Spears’ last album, Blackout, debuted at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200. The first single “Gimme More” was her most successful single in the U.S. since “…Baby One More Time.”

Britney Spears “intends to return to Louisiana,” her mom Lynne says in a declaration to the L.A. Superior Court filed Tuesday obtained by Joynews.

“Britney has spent a majority of her time over the last five years in the state of California due in part to work but primarily with respect to a custody dispute currently ongoing,” Lynne explains.

Britney’s ex Kevin Federline has primary custody of their two young children, Jayden James and Sean Preston.

At Tuesday’s hearing, the court commissioner granted Britney’s father Jamie permission to sell the singer’s six-bedroom home in Beverly Hills, CA. (Because her father is her co-conservator, the decision to sell the home required a court’s approval.)

Though she has spent most of her time in Beverly Hills, Britney has owned a home in their hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana for the past eight years.

Britney Spears touched down in her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana, on Wednesday, to be with her sister, Jamie Lynn, when she gives birth, according to People.

Britney was photographed catching a flight at LAX early in the day on Wednesday, where she boarded a plane bound for Louisiana.

Also joining Brit on the plane was her father, Jamie, brother Bryan and her assistant, Brett, People reported.

The family’s arrival comes in anticipation of 17-year-old Jamie Lynn giving birth to her first child, which is due this summer.

In December, a rep for Nickelodeon confirmed the “Zoey 101” star was expecting.

“We respect Jamie Lynn’s decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn’s well being,” the network said at the time.

A paparazzo who pressed charges against Britney Spears after her car allegedly ran over his foot was himself to blame for any injury it may have caused, prosecutors said in refusing to pursue the case.

After reviewing police records and a videotape of the incident last year, Deputy District Attorney Joseph D. Shidler wrote Friday that the “only way the victim’s foot could have been where the video indicates it to be was by the victim placing it in that location.”

The photographer, who was not identified in the report, filed a criminal complaint against Spears in early May, nearly six months after the alleged incident. A copy of the police complaint was not immediately available Monday, but it sought a felony charge of failing to stop after an accident involving an injury.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley’s office reviewed a videotape and photos of the incident, which don’t show the photographer being hit. The report also describes a chaotic scene surrounding Spears, with photographers on all sides of her car and “a lot of noise and confusion.”

The report describes Spears’ as “driving at an extremely slow rate of speed and in a straight path.”

The 26-year-old pop star has had her share of trouble behind the wheel, including a highly publicized incident in 2006 where she was photographed driving with her son on her lap.

A misdemeanor hit-and-run charge stemming from a 2007 parking lot crash was dismissed after she settled with the car’s owner. In October, she pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving without a valid license, and earlier this year was involved in a minor fender-bender on a Los Angeles freeway.

Also Monday, documents were released detailing a request from Spears’ father for payments relating to his conservatorship arrangement.

The document filed on behalf of James Spears seeks an undisclosed amount of money for helping his daughter shop for groceries, handle custody issues with her husband, Kevin Federline, and visiting her in the hospital in February and March. The filing also states that he held meetings to shore up security at Spears’ homes and occasionally cooked meals.

James Spears has temporary control of his daughter’s finances. A hearing about that conservatorship is scheduled for Tuesday morning in Los Angeles.

Despite being one of the slimmest screen stars in recent days, Mischa Barton is no stranger to close-ups of her cellulite. A fresh batch of pictures surfaced on Monday of the former “O.C.” star getting some sun Down Under, only she was branded worldwide underneath headlines outlining her “losing battle” to “severe cellulite.”

Barton did happen to be topless; however, it seems the world was more interested in learning more about the condition that plagues the female population.

Tom Brady Scared of Females? Birkhead With an Anna Look-Alike?

NFL sensation Tom Brady wasn’t too scared to hop into the Crown Royal Playboy Party at the Kentucky Derby on Friday night, but it turns out he was a little afraid to play anywhere near the Playmates, or anywhere near any other females, for that matter.

We’re told the Patriot refused to look twice at any of the hotties around him and spent the evening in the corner with his head down — talking to male pals only.

Well, when you happen to be dating the highest-earning model in the world (aka Gisele Bundchen), you have to play it pretty safe, especially when you have a bevy of barely dressed busty blondes bouncing around.

But over at the In Touch Magazine Derby Day bash, party people apparently were “shocked” to see Larry Birkhead boogying with an Anna Nicole Smith look-alike blonde, the cozy couple even sharing cocktails at the PAMA bar.

“It just seemed kind of inappropriate,” an eyewitness told Pop Tarts. “Considering it was Derby Day parties four years ago when he first met Anna Nicole.”

K-Fed ‘Pleased With Britney’s Progress’

Britney Spears ‘ track record for actually making it into the courtroom at the Los Angeles Superior Court hasn’t been exactly superior, and for a moment the pop princess almost bailed on Tuesday’s proceedings.

After speculation from a security guard that Spears was “freaking out” while waiting in a room at the courthouse, a somber-looking songstress finally entered at 9:36 a.m., 10 minutes after Kevin Federline and his posse paraded inside.

Federline’s media-lovin’ lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, made sure to turn around and have a good ol’ stare and wave to his “friends” in the press seated at the back of the room.

Brit (sporting a bad blonde weave) didn’t exchange as much as a glance with her former flame as she was comforted by one of her lawyers before the commissioner granted a request for the courtroom to be cleared.

A court insider told Pop Tarts that Britney “needed a break” after about 55 minutes in session. She left looking particularly distraught with red, weeping eyes and smudged eyeliner as she held the hand of her lawyer for a five-minute breather in a private room, only to take a much longer break just a few minutes later.

On a more positive note, at least the love between Brit and mama Lynne looks restored as we spotted the Miss and Mrs. Spears holding hands as the pop star exited and re-entered the courtroom. (For the record, Lynne looked particularly young and gorgeous.)

But that’s not the only tidbit of affection that came out of the proceedings; a spokesperson for Kevin told us after the hearing was over that Fed-Ex is “pleased” with how our girl is doing.

“It’s a step in the right direction,” Kaplan added.

That’s right. We’re proud of the pop princess who turned up on time, smiled through her tears and looked good (except for that bad blonde wig).

Brit was granted expanded visitation rights to her two sons on Tuesday during the child-custody hearing. Interestingly, she wasn’t the only music mogul in the building — apparently, ex- Guns N’ Roses strummer Slash was downstairs on jury duty.

Reese Breaks Down Over Breast Cancer, Determined to Find a Cure

Reese Witherspoon’s role as an international spokeswoman for household cosmetic brand Avon certainly has involved more wiping of the eyes than wearing of the eyeliner.

The Oscar-winning actress flew into Washington, D.C., on Sunday, straight from her beau Jake Gyllenhaal’s film set in South Carolina (with him in tow) to join 3,500 athletic individuals for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

Event organizers described the “Sweet Home Alabama” starlet as “simply precious” as she offered to help hand out lunches and got her groove on by jumping in for the final mile.

An insider, however, told Pop Tarts that Witherspoon was later reduced to tears watching a video featuring a young woman who almost lost her mother to the devastating illness.

“Reese got really upset about it and said she felt really determined to help find a cure for her own daughter Ava’s sake,” said our source, adding that Witherspoon reportedly lost a very close friend to breast cancer recently and was so “overwhelmed” she couldn’t control her emotion in front of the crowd.

Another excited participant (who is battling the cancer) told us that Reese randomly embraced her on the walk after hearing about experiences undergoing radiation therapy.

But after all the physical and emotional exertion, the A-list actress was back in the arms of Gyllenhaal as the comely couple was caught heading off straight away for a romantic dinner while Reese’s ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe, reportedly was looking after the divorced duo’s two children, Ava, 8, and Deacon, 4.

And when Reese romps back into L.A. this week, it seems she’ll be the apple of her kids’ affection.

“I’ll just be spending Mother’s Day with my children, which will be even more special now they’re old enough to appreciate it a little more,” the blonde bombshell told a Pop Tarts insider, adding that the day will probably also be somewhat sad as she’ll be missing her own mother, who resides in her home state of Tennessee.

Apparently, Jake is set to return to the South Carolina set of “Nailed,” which also stars Jessica Biel and James Marsden — so chances are Witherspoon will be missing her man, too.

Aguilera Poised for First Official Post-Baby Party

Christina Aguilera may have just popped out her first baby a couple of months ago, but the music megastar already is booked to strut her stuff until the wee hours of the morning.

Pop Tarts has confirmed that the “Dirrrty” diva will host a huge dance party on May 31 at Sin City hotspot, LAX — which Chris also invests in financially.

No word yet if the pop princess will enliven the party with those precious pipes.

Meanwhile, across town, Federline was shocked at his Father of the Year award.

“I’m surprised,” Federline said when asked how it felt to win the title.

Federline, 30, hit up the club with a group of male pals — including divorce attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan — just before 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

Federline — also named a Power Player last year — had a quiet night at the club, chilling with friends and pumping his fist into the air when Timbaland’s “The Way I Are” was played by the DJ.

Prive presented Federline his Father of the Year trophy “someplace quiet” at the dad-of-four’s request, so clubgoers didn’t see the ceremony, according to a source.
