Jack Black liked anal play as a child

Jack Black

Jack Black recently spoke with Stuff about his desire to lose weight for future nude scenes,

“When I saw my rear end in my nude scene in ‘Margot at the Wedding’, it actually had a double chin. I’ve joined a gym because the next time you see me naked I’ll be trim.”

the guilt he feels after eating a cheeseburger,

“I want to feel good too. Now if I eat a cheeseburger and fries, it tastes so good at the time and then right after it’s like, ‘What did I do? Why?’ “

and his favorite pastime which was shoving Coco Pops into his anus. Wait, what?

The ‘Kung Fu Panda’ star said: “I also put Coco Pops in my butt. Why? For comedy and experiment. I was a scientist and I discovered you could put a lot of them up your butt.”

Jack Black: Actor, comedian, shover of Coco Pops in butt extraordinaire? More at 11.

‘Get Smart’ gets audience with $39.2M debut

Posted on 22 June 2008 by JoyCeleb

Audiences still get Maxwell Smart. Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway’s “Get Smart,” the Warner Bros. big screen update of the 1960s spy sitcom, raked in $39.2 million to debut as the No. 1 weekend movie, according to studio estimates Sunday.

But movie-goers did not get Mike Myers‘ “The Love Guru,” the weekend’s other new wide release. The Paramount Pictures comedy about a self-help mentor took in just $14 million to open at No. 4.

In limited release, “Kit Kittredge: An American Girl” opened strongly with $222,697 in five theaters, averaging $44,539 a cinema, compared with $10,012 in 3,911 theaters for “Get Smart.”

“Kit Kittredge,” released by Picturehouse and based on the popular line of American Girl dolls, stars Abigail Breslin as a 9-year-old aspiring newspaper reporter during the Depression. The film expands into wide release July 2.

The weekend’s No. 2 spot was a photo finish between DreamWorks Animation and Paramount’s “Kung Fu Panda” and Universal’s “The Incredible Hulk.”

In its third weekend, “Kung Fu Panda” pulled in $21.7 million, raising its domestic total to $155.6 million. “The Incredible Hulk” was right behind with $21.6 million in its second weekend to lift its total to $96.5 million.

“Panda” and “Hulk” were close enough that their rankings could change when final numbers are released Monday.

Hollywood’s summer surge continued, with total revenues climbing for the fourth straight weekend compared to last year. The top 12 movies took in $136.9 million, up nearly 10 percent from the same weekend in 2007, when Carell’s “Evan Almighty” opened at No. 1 with $31.2 million.

The industry is on track to beat the revenue record set last summer, when receipts topped $4 billion for the first time.

“While the country may be suffering with a so-called recession, people are finding movies a fairly inexpensive way to get their entertainment,” said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Media By Numbers. “This proves the conventional wisdom that, during tough economic times, the movies flourish.”

In “Get Smart,” Carell re-creates the bumbling Max Smart character created by Don Adams, with Hathaway playing the capable Agent 99 as the duo try to stop a plot to arm unstable governments with nuclear bombs. Dwayne Johnson co-stars as a superstar spy colleague.

Critics picked apart the movie for emphasizing action over the crisp verbal comedy of the TV show, but Warner Bros. figures that was a wise commercial move. While 60 percent of the audience was 25 or older, that still meant a sizable younger crowd that was more keen on the movie’s action, said Dan Fellman, the studio’s head of distribution.

“We were very pleased to have 40 percent under 25, because they did not grow up on the television show,” Fellman said. “The filmmakers did a great job in making that happen. They broadened the audience and brought it into a modern-day bent.”

Myers — who dreamed up the “Love Guru” character, co-wrote the script and was a producer on the movie — has been accustomed to blockbuster openings with the three “Shrek” flicks and his two “Austin Powers” spy sequels.

Mike Myers, the master of the spy spoof, opens his movie against a spy comedy, and the spy movie genre was obviously a lot more appealing to audiences,” Dergarabedian said.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Media By Numbers LLC. Final figures will be released Monday.

1. “Get Smart,” $39.2 million.

2. “Kung Fu Panda,” $21.7 million.

3. “The Incredible Hulk,” $21.6 million.

4. “The Love Guru,” $14 million.

5. “The Happening,” $10 million.

6. “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” $8.4 million.

7. “You Don’t Mess With the Zohan,” $7.2 million.

8. “Sex and the City,” $6.5 million.

9. “Iron Man,” $4 million.

10. “The Strangers,” $1.9 million.

Jack Black parts ways with “Man-Witch”

Posted on 12 June 2008 by JoyCeleb

Jack Black has exited the supernatural comedy “Man-Witch,” in which he was to play the title role.

When the star was attached to the feature in 2007, it was notable as the first collaboration between the boxoffice-drawing comic actor and Todd Phillips, the force behind such comedy powerhouses as “Old School” (which Phillips directed, co-wrote and produced) and “Borat” (on which he was one of the writers.)

“Man-Witch” centers on a man who discovers he’s a witch and heads off to teach at a female witch school; Phillips is set to produce and, likely, to direct the Warner Brothers project.

Sources said that the decision this week to part ways may have originated from Black’s camp, which had questions about Phillips’ commitment to direct the picture before “Hangover,” another comedy said to be close to the helmer’s heart. That project is also set up at Warners.

Warners confirmed the departure but declined to provide further detail. A spokesperson for Black said the star had no comment. A spokesperson for Creative Artists Agency, which represents Phillips, declined to comment.

The actor’s departure has not affected the status of the movie, which remains in active development. Warners and Phillips are said to be combing a list of stars to replace the funnyman.

Black stars in the upcoming comedy ensemble “Tropic Thunder” as well as in the Judd Apatow-produced “Year One.”

The Black-voiced “Kung-Fu Panda” was the top-grossing movie at the boxoffice last weekend, surpassing expectations by earning more than $60 million domestically.

Angelina Not Mad at Jack Black

Posted on 09 June 2008 by JoyCeleb

We already suspected that Angelina Jolie was expecting twins, but were just as shocked as Angie when Jack Black accidentally confirmed it during a joint interview while promoting “Kung Fu Panda” at Cannes.

When Jack was asked about his slip-up on the “Today” show this past Wednesday, the comedian jokingly blamed it on his wife, Tanya Haden, who recently gave birth to their second son, Jack Jr. “She said, like it was common knowledge, ‘Yeah, Angelina’s having twins.’ Because my wife is a triplet and she was interested in that.” Although some reports noted that Angelina was upset, Jack claims otherwise. “She was actually relieved. She wanted to spill the beans, but didn’t know how to.”

‘Panda’ beats Sandler with $60 million weekend

Posted on 08 June 2008 by JoyCeleb

Jack Black’s Po the panda outgunned Adam Sandler’s Zo the hairdresser. Black’s cartoon comedy “Kung Fu Panda” pulled in $60 million in ticket sales to debut as the weekend’s No. 1 movie, while Sandler’s salon romp “You Don’t Mess With the Zohan” opened in second place with $40 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.

The movies combined to carry Hollywood to a big weekend. The top 12 films took in $172.4 million, up 32 percent from the same weekend last year when “Ocean’s Thirteen” led with a $36.1 million opening.

DreamWorks Animation’s “Panda” and Sony’s “Zohan” bumped off the previous weekend’s leader, the Warner Bros. chick flickSex and the City,” which slipped to fourth place with $21.3 million.

That was a steep 63 percent decline from its $56.8 million debut, but with a total of $99.3 million “Sex and the City” was just shy of $100 million hit status after only 10 days.

Paramount’s “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” was No. 3 with $22.8 million, raising its three-week domestic total to $253 million.

Two strong weekends in a row enabled Hollywood to chip away at its box office deficit compared to 2007, a record year for revenues.

“This month offers the marketplace the opportunity to catch up with last year,” said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Media By Numbers. “Last year’s June was not as strong as expected and this year’s may be stronger, so we’re definitely narrowing the gap in terms of revenue and attendance.”

Receipts are at $3.8 billion this year, off 1.5 percent from 2007, while attendance is down 4.3 percent, according to Media By Numbers.

Kung Fu Panda,” distributed by Paramount for DreamWorks Animation, has Black providing the voice of the tubby Po, a panda in ancient China who becomes an unlikely martial-arts hero. The voice cast includes Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Lucy Liu and Jackie Chan.

While the movie played well to families with young children, moviegoers 17 and older made up 71 percent of the audience, according to Paramount.

“There was strong appeal for this movie in the tweens, teens and general audience beyond the core families and kids,” said Anne Globe, head of marketing for DreamWorks. “Certainly, families and kids also showed up in droves, but we really have the opportunity to play as a broad comedy, too.”

“Kung Fu Panda” had the best opening ever for a non-sequel cartoon flick from DreamWorks, topping such hits as “Shark Tale” and “Madagascar.” Among DreamWorks animated releases, only the second and third “Shrek” movies did better.

You Don’t Mess With the Zohan” features Sandler as an Israeli commando who fakes his death so he can live out his dream to become a hair stylist in New York City. The movie came in on par with other comedies from Sandler, whose top four past openings range from “The Longest Yard” at $47.6 million to “Click” at $40 million.

“He’s just in his zone. He’s incredibly consistent,” said Rory Bruer, head of distribution for Sony. “He’s the guy that always is going to make you laugh.”

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Media By Numbers LLC. Final figures will be released Monday.

1. “Kung Fu Panda,” $60 million.

2. “You Don’t Mess With the Zohan,” $40 million.

3. “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” $22.8 million.

4. “Sex and the City,” $21.3 million.

5. “The Strangers,” $9.3 million.

6. “Iron Man,” $7.5 million.

7. “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian,” $5.5 million.

8. “What Happens in Vegas,” $3.4 million.

9. “Baby Mama,” $780,000

10. “Made Of Honor,” $775,000.

Kung Fu Panda Premiere Best and Worst Dressed

Posted on 26 May 2008 by JoyCeleb

The stars were shining all night as the widely anticipated premiere of Kung Fu Panda took center stage at Cannes. It was an evening of fun and beauty as Hollywood’s most beloved came out to celebrate and kick some fashion butt. Yet, while some celebs took it as an opportunity to show how beauty doesn’t have a weight limit, others used it as an excuse to air out their Halloween costumes and fashion line rejects.
Here’s the list of the top six Best and Worst Dressed Celebrities:

Beads and sequins definitely have a place in fashion, but not in the train-wreck Madonna’s donning. I compliment her courage but maybe she should stop trying to be fashion avant garde and just be fashion-able. Aishwarya Rai could give her some tips–the stunning woman knows both beauty and fashion.

Star Jones should know there’s a difference between chic and ugly. Angelina Jolie looks like a Greek goddess, compared to Star’s broken tie-dye machine catastrophe. Star needs to learn to be eye catching, not blinding.

Worst gold

Some one needs to tell Model Linda Evangelista that this isn’t 1970. No longer does the most sequins denote the most glamorous. Take a page from Goldie Hawn’s book. She defines Hollywood glamor in this outfit, complete with starlet sunglasses. She looks like she was born from Hollywood while Linda’s gold monstrosity looks like a cheap forever 21 knock-off.

Over the top doesn’t mean ugly. Before I ask what she was thinking I have to ask who the heck she is! Phoebe Price really needs to never step out of the house until she consults Eva Longoria. Eva looks like she’s ready for the ball, a true fashionista who isn’t afraid to go bold. Extravagant yes. But gorgeous, hell yes! I think the reality show reject Phoebe, just wanted to get as much press as she could because her 15 minutes of fame are counting down fast.

Less isn’t always more. I think former supermodel Eva Herzidova left part of her dress at home. Did the designer run out of cloth? It’s sad because this dress has such possibility, but now it just looks unfinished. If she wanted elegance, maybe she should have called Penelope Cruise. Her dress looks like she was made for Hollywood.

Birds of a feather do not flock together. Why did Julianne Moore feel that her dress needed feathers? It looks like she got cold, so she killed a bird and threw it over her shoulders. Take a note out of Cate Blanchett’s book: simple and beautiful.
