Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s Low-Key Second Anniversary Celebration

Posted on 26 June 2008 by JoyCeleb

Nicole and Keith's Low-Key Second Anniversary Celebration | Keith Urban, Nicole KidmanNicole Kidman and Keith Urban kicked off their second wedding anniversary on June 25 in their typical laidback style.

The day began with an early a.m. trip to one of their favorite spots: a Starbucks in Franklin, Tenn. After pulling up in their black Bentley, the couple – dressed in workout gear and baseball caps – strolled inside hand-in-hand and lingered over drinks and a scone.

The couple then had lunch that afternoon at a local Whole Foods with Urban’s songwriter pal Monty Powell and his wife.

By then, Kidman was wearing into a flower-print yellow cotton minidress and Urban had changed into a blue button-down shirt and jeans.

These days, the expectant parents – whose baby is due “soon,” according to Urban – have been doing more than hitting their usual haunts together: They’ve been taking Lamaze lessons. During a June 24 interview with Nashville’s WSIX-FM, Urban initially denied he was taking Lamaze, but a surprise phone call revealed otherwise.

“Hi, this is Keith’s wife!” Kidman said. “Actually, Keith has been doing Lamaze lessons, he is selling himself short! He doesn’t know the name [of the classes] but he has been very good at it!”

Urban (who previously admitted he was learning a new vocabulary for fatherhood) thanked his wife for coming to his defense. “I knew there was breathing involved!” he said.

When Kidman added she was on her way to the station but was stuck in traffic, radio host Gerry House asked her to stop at a nearby shop and pick him up a salad for lunch. Twenty minutes later, she arrived with a bag in hand.

“Here you go Gerry – one Woodmont Salad,” she said.

House thanked her profusely, but confessed. “I have no intention of eating this. Are you kidding? Lunch delivered by Nicole Kidman? I’m having it bronzed!”

Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal move in together

Posted on 26 June 2008 by JoyCeleb

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe finalized their divorce just 12 days ago, so now it’s time for the gossip magazine charted race for the new celebrity couples to hit the altar.

Ryan debut his girlfriend Abbie Cornish, the actress who was supposedly the ‘other woman’ in their marriage, at an Australian film award show earlier this month. Now Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal are moving in together.

Meawhile, the blonde beauty Reese Witherspoon and her two children have just moved into a £1.9 million house in the cosmopolitan district of “Notting Hill” to be closer to her love Jake Gyllenhaal.

The romantic 32-year-old star, which was considered as the Hollywood’s highest paid actress, took a four-month break from work so she can be closer to Brokeback Mountain actor Jake, who is currently filming in London.

The actress revealed, “Reese loves England and has been really looking forward to spending this time living with Jake.”

fashion.ie

I don’t know if a temporary move for work can be called officially moving in together, but I guess traveling across the Atlantic ocean to be together has to count for something. Us Weekly is covering this also but I can’t get my hands on the content so I have to assume this is the same story.

Hollywood Reporter today says that Reese is still the highest paid actress at $15-20 million a film. Others in the top ten include Cameron Diaz, Julia Roberts, Halle Berry, Nicole Kidman and Renee Zellweger. I can’t believe Julia Roberts is still on this list following her break to have children, she’s made so few films over the last three years.

Picture note by Joynews: Here’s Reese Witherspoon at the airport on 6/21/08. The main thing that struck me about these pictures is that her glasses look really dirty.

Posted on 22 June 2008 by JoyCeleb

Keith's Big Birthday Sing-A-Long for Nicole | Keith Urban, Nicole KidmanTalk about a surprise party.

After Keith Urban sang “Who Wouldn’t Wanna Be Me” for pregnant wife Nicole Kidman, the country star announced to the Chicago Soldier Field crowd Saturday night that she just had a birthday the day before.

“So it would be nice to have 50,000 people sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her,” he said – and brought Kidman on stage for a stadium-sized sing-a-long for the actress, who turned 41 on Friday.

A surprised and glowing Kidman, in a long flowing black floral tank top dress, blew the audience a kiss and returned backstage when the song finished. The couple are awaiting the birth of their first child, due any day.

Nicole Kidman Celebrates Her 41st Birthday

Posted on 21 June 2008 by JoyCeleb

Nicole Kidman Celebrates Her 41st Birthday | Nicole KidmanAs she marks her 41st birthday on Friday, Nicole Kidman is enjoying every minute of her life in Nashville and is eagerly awaiting the birth of her first child with hubby Keith Urban, a close pal tells PEOPLE.

“She’s never been happier or healthier,” the friend says. “She is absolutely radiant and enjoying nesting and homemaking with Keith at their new home in Nashville.”

The special day began early, with the birthday girl and Urban making one of their regular stops at the local Starbucks.

The couple also mark their second wedding anniversary on June 25. And, by all accounts, the expectant actress has been enjoying a leisurely last few weeks before the birth of their child next month. “They are so relaxed,” the friend adds.

Kidman and Urban, 40, made a brief trip to New York last week, where they took in an evening performance of the Tony-winning August: Osage County at the Music Box Theatre – and eschewed any special, VIP treatment for the three-and-a-half-hour show.

“Nicole is always very gracious, and she doesn’t run from people,” a source says. “She looked wonderful, and they seemed very happy.” The pair did, however, dodge paparazzi waiting outside.

Closer to home in Tennessee, the couple lives a seemingly normal life: they’re regulars at their local Starbucks, take in movies on the weekends (they just saw You Don’t Mess with the Zohan), tend to their organic vegetable garden and work out together.

“She’s very nurturing,” says Australia cinematographer Mandy Walker. Kidman stars opposite Hugh Jackman in the Baz Luhrmann epic due for release in November. “She’s really lovely.”

Family, friends gather to mourn director Pollack

Posted on 16 June 2008 by JoyCeleb

Friends, family and show business colleagues gathered to remember late Oscar-winning director, producer and actor Sydney Pollack at a private memorial service, according to a person with knowledge of the service.

The person insisted on anonymity because the family wanted details of the service on Saturday to be kept private and the person was not authorized to release any information.

The 73-year-old director, producer and actor died of cancer on May 26 while surrounded by family at his home in Los Angeles, according to his publicist, Leslee Dart. Pollack had been diagnosed with cancer about nine months ago.

Pollack won Academy Awards for best picture and best director for the 1985 epic “Out of Africa.” In a career spanning nearly five decades, he directed over 20 films, including “The Firm,” “Havana” and “Absence of Malice.” The last film he directed was the 2006 documentary “Sketches of Frank Gehry.”

Pollack had worked with seemingly every A-list star in the business: Al Pacino, Paul Newman, Meryl Streep, Jane Fonda, Sean Penn, Nicole Kidman, Barbra Streisand and George Clooney. He collaborated with Robert Redford on seven films, including “Out of Africa,” 1973’s “The Way We Were,” 1975’s “Three Days of the Condor” and 1979’s “The Electric Horseman.”

While best known as a director, Pollack frequently stepped in front of the camera. He played the agent of Dustin Hoffman’s cross-dressing soap star in 1982’s “Tootsie,” which he also directed, and the old-school law firm boss in 2007’s “Michael Clayton,” which he also co-produced. He also appeared on “Will & Grace,” “Entourage” and “The Sopranos.”

Pollack is survived by his wife, Claire; two daughters, a brother and six grandchildren. Pollack’s son, Steven, died in a plane crash in 1993.

Mission impossible: Celebs’ attempts to hide pregnancies

Posted on 10 June 2008 by JoyCeleb

That’s what musician Pete Wentz did in April when reports surfaced that fiancee Ashlee Simpson was carrying his child. In an angry missive to MTV.com, Wentz fumed: “There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood. This is all news to me.”

Last week, Wentz, who married the 23-year-old singer (now Simpson-Wentz) last month at her parents’ Los Angeles-area home, happily confirmed the news on his blog, explaining that the couple “wanted to wait until after the first trimester” to make it official.

Most expectant parents, concerned about the possibility of a miscarriage, wait until after the first three months of pregnancy to share the news with family and friends. But discretion is nearly impossible for those in the media spotlight.

“Every woman, no matter who they are or what they do for a living, has the right to wait until at least (three) months before sharing this very personal news,” Wentz, who turns 29 Thursday, told MTV.com last week. “We wanted to wait until after the first trimester and get a clean bill of health from our doctors before confirming anything, just like any other couple.”

“Being a boy I have no idea how to respond to such things and my first instinct was to protect her and the baby,” said Wentz, bassist for rock band Fall Out Boy. “It’s insane that you can’t let happy news brew in Hollywood. This wasn’t about press or anything. … I apologize to anyone who felt misinformed but the truth is, the person and growing baby is who I felt most loyal to protect and defend.”

Wentz isn’t the first celebrity to dispute pregnancy rumors. In late December, Nicole Kidman, who had a miscarriage during her marriage to Tom Cruise, denied that she is expecting a baby with husband Keith Urban — only to confirm it a week later. Jennifer Lopez, who welcomed twins with husband Marc Anthony in February, announced she was pregnant in November following denials by the couple.

Even so, attempts by celebrities to keep their pregnancies private doesn’t stop celebrity magazines and gossip Web sites from issuing reports to the contrary.

Jared Shapiro, executive editor of Life & Style Weekly, told The Associated Press the magazine began publishing stories that Simpson, the younger sister of Jessica Simpson, was pregnant after receiving information from various sources.

“The news of the pregnancy makes for great breaking news,” he said.

“Ninety-nine percent of these celebrities end up confirming, so they do talk about it — they just do it on their own terms,” said Shapiro. He said it’s the media’s job “to break news. Not wait for news.”

Pregnancy is a big game in the celeb news business, as indicated by the millions of dollars that People magazine has paid for exclusive photos of the children of Jennifer Lopez (reportedly $6 million), Angelina Jolie ($4 million for photos of baby Shiloh, now 2) and Christina Aguilera ($1.5 million).

Competition from Internet gossips raises the stakes even higher in getting the news first, Shapiro said.

“It’s hard for celebrities to keep a pregnancy secret but if you look at who they surround themselves with — they’ve got doctors, lawyers, agents, managers, publicists, assistants, friends, family,” he said. “Add that into the fact that you’ve got photographers following them, and just the entire American public on celebrity watch now — you can’t pull it off. Your every word is heard.”

Shapiro said stars are “getting creative in their choice of words, and that’s become a whole new game: dissecting what a (representative’s) comment actually means. Is it a denial? Is it a confirmation? Is a non-denial denial?”

Simpson-Wentz simply stayed mum while promoting her new album, “Bittersweet World.”

But when a star finds out she’s pregnant, how much talking should their representatives do?

Public Relations representative Ken Sunshine says “way too many” in his profession mishandle private matters (such as pregnancy) by not acting in their clients’ interest.

“Where I think the outrage comes is when they sell out their client, and either the clients are not aware or too stupid to realize what’s happening, and that is outrageous,” particularly when there’s a child involved, said Sunshine, whose clients include John Mayer and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Sunshine said there are lines to be drawn — especially in today’s celeb-crazed climate.

If somebody “wants to maintain some anonymity or some privacy of extremely personal things like this, they should be able to do it,” he said.

She is so excited about her growing belly that she’s hired renowned photographer Patrick Demarchelier to take photos of her in the nude.

Don’t expect the pics to come out soon, though.  A source told the New York Daily News, “Nicole wants to wait until she looks really pregnant.”

George Clooney Comments on Paris Hilton’s Acting Ability

Posted on 13 May 2008 by JoyCeleb

Actor George Clooney has verbally slammed rich girl Paris Hilton for being a “wannabe” actress. Apparently George isn’t a big fan of wannabes like her and even had this to say:

“There is a funny thing that happens when you are a young actor. You equate financial success and getting jobs with whether or not you are good at it. And it still happens. That’s why there is Paris Hilton. Now I’m in trouble with Paris Hilton.”

In addition, George has been hit with rumors that he is set to be the godfather of Nicole Kidman’s baby — as well as friend Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s fifth child. When asked about being a godfather, he has not been asked to be the godfather of either child… yet.
