Coldplay’s fourth album, “Viva La Vida” premiered at number one on the Billboard chart and is getting high praise from critics and fans. The band was on The Today Show this morning and performed for a huge crowd.

When asked by Ann Curry how they achieved such success, lead singer Chris Martin quipped “Well, we took on a big team of financial advisers and marketers and stylists and Ryan Seacrest designed our outfits… No no what we tried to do is make everything as homemade as possible.”

Drummer Will Champion “It’s a nice gesture” to give away music
Meredith Viera asked why they started giving away their music and doing free concerts and drummer Will Champion explained “We’d been away for a while and we didn’t expect anyone to have to pay for our music without any encouragement, so we think it’s a nice gesture. ‘Here you go, have it for free.’”

Ann asked “Guy, you said it was the boldest and most confident record you’ve done. Would you say that?” [hands mike to guitarist Johnny Buckland]

Johnny got a little nervous, and said “Yeah, I dunno… We just had a great time in the studio recording it. We worked with incredible people… Brian Eno, who’s our hero.”

Bass player Guy Berryman added “I don’t think it really sounds like our last three records… there’s going to be a few surprises.” [audience screams when Guy starts talking]

Anne Curry concluded that “There’s something real authentic on this album and it reaches out deep into all of us.”

If you said “Yes!” to all of the above, then it’s your lucky day, boys; because Mr. Jenner is looking for a new wingman in the show “Bromance”!

Ever since losing a member of his crew (:cough: Spencer Pratt :cough:), Jenner has been feeling like something is missing–and to fill the gap, he will have his own reality TV show to find his man!

The guys in the show will be competing similarly to “Rock of Love” or “Tila Tequila” style. The guys will take part in competitions, like skydiving, as well as try to win alone time with Brody. There is even a “hot tub elimination ceremony” each week when one of the potential bros get kicked out.

…Wait…does anyone else think this sounds kind of…gay?

The show is produced for MTV by Ryan Seacrest’s production companies. Ryan himself has said,

I can speak from experience — girls can come and go, but a ‘bromance’ can last forever.

This seems to be kind of an odd thing for Seacrest to say, especially since he has repeatedly tried to deny gay rumors. So despite having hot tub eliminations, man on man alone time, and being called “Bromance”, the show is supposed to appear (almost) completely heterosexual. It’s all in the name of fun–and I guess it’s just guy-love!

The crazy Kardashian family is back for another season on E!’s Keeping up with the Kardashian’s! This Ryan Seacrest produced show is pretty hilarious… We got a chance to celebrate the kickoff of the show with a party at the hot spot Les Deux last night (the place where Kim celebrated her birthday several months back too).

Most of the family attended this big bash (minus brother Robert and the two boyfriends of the girls Reggie Bush and Scott Disick). The girls all looked incredible (as you can see in the pics). I got a chance to talk to Kris Jenner and Kourtney for a while about the website we just built for them www.smoochkids.com.   They both “love it” and are so proud to show it off!   Kourtney especially really put a lot of effort and input into the site development to make sure it was something she could be proud of.

I also spoke to Kris Jenner about her recent outing on Robertson with Kim where photos caught pictures of them in Kris’ Range Rover with a handicap sign dangling from her rear view mirror. A lot of tabloid sites were criticizing her for the handicap decal, stating that now that they’re famous, they are getting special treatment. She was frustrated by this and said: “you will see in one of the upcoming episodes that I go into emergency knee surgery; so hopefully that will clear up these rumors.”

Also at the Les Deux event was Joe Francis of Girls Gone Wild, making one of his first public appearances fresh out of jail.

Oh, & did I mention how gorgeous the Kardashian girls looked? haha…

You won’t see a lot of pics of this party or any paparazzi photos circulating because there wasn’t a lot of press at the event and the Les Deux staff kicked all the paparazzi of the premises.

Finishing off the seventh season of Fox’s reality hit, Missouri-native David Cook took home the title Wednesday night after beating out 17-year-old David Archuleta.

“I’m absolutely at a loss for words right now,” Cook said through tears. “This is amazing — thank you!”

Over 97.5 million finale votes — an Idol record! — were cast to determine the winner. Ryan Seacrest announced that Cook won by 12 million votes.

Cook was fighting an uphill battle: after Tuesday night’s David vs. David three song showdown, Cowell declared Archuleta “a knock out.”

“I feel really good,” Archuleta gushed to joyoncam.com on Tuesday. “Both me and Cook just gave it all we had and even though Simon wasn’t so favoring Cook, he did so well.”

Cook agreed with Cowell that it was Archuleta’s night. “I have to concede it,” he told Usmagazine.com. “The kid came out all three songs and nailed it. But I walk away from this with my head held high.”

The 25-year-old bartender has had a rough season: he was rushed to the hospital in April after suffering from heart palpitations and high blood pressure. He still managed to perform Dolly Parton’s tune “Little Sparrow” on the show.

Later that month, he broke down in tears after performing Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby” in front of his brother, Adam, 36, who is battling brain cancer.

Throughout the season rumors swirled about Archuleta’s overbearing father Jeff.

In early May the Associated Press and TMZ reported that Jeff (who has insisted to Usmagazine.com that he’s “no stage dad”) was banned from backstage and show rehearsals.

The final straw was when Jeff reportedly insisted his son switch up the lyrics of “Stand by Me” ton include a verse from Sean Kingston’s “Beautiful Girls,” despite warnings from show producers not to do so.

Ryan Seacrest came to the defense of Paula Abdul Wednesday during American Idol’s live results show. Addressing Tuesday’s broadcast when Paula critiqued Jason Castro’s second song before he performed it, Ryan spoke up to put an end to gossip about his costar. (Paula defended herself earlier, calling the awkward moment an “honest mistake” on Ryan’s KIIS-FM radio show.)

“Last night the judges were thrown a curve ball on the air, which is just part of a live show,” Ryan said from the stage while a nervous-looking Paula watched from the judges’ panel. “But it sparked a lot of gossip about Paula. And I read some of this online this morning and just for the record, the rumors — they’re not true. She’s part of our family and we love her.”

Paula looked touched as the audience clapped and both Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell gave her a kiss on the cheek, which prompted Ryan to joke, “I think Simon still wants to hook up with her.”
